Reading on hold

Refactoring (2019)
After 20 years it has finally arrived. The Bible of Software Development which belongs on the desk of every Developer and Automation Engineer. While writing new code, one has already to think about refactoring it afterwards. Code that is never touched again, is dead code!

Thinking Fast and Slow (2011)
A Book highly recommended by Maaike Brinkhof in the Testers’ Island Disc Episode10

Design Patterns (2014)
This is by far the best book about design patterns in software development I’ve ever heard off. Its design is fabulous and finally a working book presented in a way that fits very well my learning style. Currently I long every single day to continue working with it!

Java For Testers (2015)
Probably one of the BEST way to get started with learning Java.

Mob Programming Guidebook (2018)
Probably the BEST book about Mob Programming in the world.

Past readings

Lessons Learned in Software Testing
The classic one which probably almost everyone in the testing community knows about. This is probably the first book I didn’t read from the start to the end as others in the past. It’s more the way that I read some lessons, think about it, maybe experiment and see how they work in practice and then go on with some others or coming back to the same ones. Great book!

Dear Evil Tester
Very funny, amusing and precise answers to read from Alan on letters he received. Made me think that I should be more aware of what, why and when we use certain terms in testing (eg. Regression-Testing).

Fifty Quick Ideas To Improve Your Tests
Fresh, crispy, great and eye opening ideas which push your curiosity.

Explore It!
Very inspiring book about things I sometimes explicitly and implicitly do or not do while testing.

Changing Times - Quality for Humans in a Digital Age
Have you ever wondered what quality really means to us humans? No or have you just a vague understanding? What are you waiting for, GET that book!
Since I’m reading this book, I’ve a much better understanding why quality actually matters to people. Quality is about relationship and trust between you and something! It’s was very exciting to read Kim’s story and he. An indeed eye-opening narrative!

The Digital Quality Handbook
Great technical hand book with a lot of great insights and practical advises.

Hands-On Mobile App Testing
Daniel is a very likeable guy. I met him for the first time at NTD 2018 and even we’ve just chatted for a couple of minutes, I like him very much! I already knew before we’ve met, that he published this book a while a go. So thank you very much Daniel for sending me this copy! I’m in dept and owe you at least a beer the next time we meet ;) Isn’t that wonderful when you meet the author of a book which you are very interested in, in person? For me it is! I was involved in the field of mobile testing a couple of years back, for just one project. Since then I didn’t get the opportunity again. My Mobile Test-Strategy back then was: hands-on testing on the most common real mobile devices (3 different phones and tablets) only, because it was an app with very limited scope of features, where it wouldn’t have made much sense to build up a whole test automation environment. And of course, I’ve to admit it here, I had not much idea about mobile testing at that point of time. So finally I hold a book in my hands, I wish I would have had back then.

DISCOVERY - Explore behaviour using examples
If you really want do understand what BDD is for, then this Book explains it perfectly. After reading the first few pages, I’ve had already so many epiphany. Out of that, new ideas came to my mind of how I now can explain its benefits in so much better ways to my current team at work as I was capable before.
